Hospitals run by the state and central government, the railways, ESI and the police will be affected, with nurses across the city taking part in the agitation.
“The Sixth Pay Commission recommendations have not been implemented in our case, though all other government employees are enjoying the new pay scales,” Padma Prakash, Secretary of the Delhi Nurses’ Union said. “We will resort to a hunger strike, two-hour work schedule and a day-long mass casual leave. If the authorities still refuse to consider our demands, we will launch an indefinite strike from March 5,” said G K Khurana, General Secretary of All-India Government Nurses Federation.
Government officials maintained that their grievances are being looked into. “The Health Department has already taken up the issue with the Ministry of Finance. As soon as we get a reply from the Ministry, we will get back to the nursing community,” Dileep Kumar, Nursing Advisor, Directorate General of Health Services, said.
