It wouldn't be inappropriate to say- one can separate cricketer from cricket, but not cricket from the cricketer. Because years after retirement from world cricket, practice is what, retired Indian batsman Vinod Kambli, calls the secret of his performance- be it on field or off field - shooting for a film. The dexterity of this left handed batsman remains unmatched even in the dance sequences that he's doing for his upcoming Marathi film- Lagalee Paij. Kambli who was in the city for the shooting of the film, spoke about the film, cricket and much more.

"Produced by Kuber productions, the film is about Ramakant Kelkar a character who is into betting and is played by actor Mohan Joshi. Kambli is doing a song in the film and is playing himself in the sequence," says Milind Shintre, director of Lagalee Paij. Commenting on the venture, Kambli adds, "I have done a Hindi film named Ek khiladi ek haseena earlier and shooting for it was a wonderful experience. When Shintre asked me about this one, the Maharashtrian spirit in me left me with no reason to refuse." Another reason points out Kambli, is that he feels more and more people should watch Marathi cinema. "This film is a comedy meaning Vinodi in Marathi. The film has me in its very genre and it goes without saying that it will thus be successful," smiles he.

The song, a dance sequence is based on the 20-20 sensation in the world of cricket and Kambli in a true cricketing spirit adds, "I am happy with the fact that I am associated with cricket in the film as well. When it comes to performance, the key formula of success is practice."
