New Delhi Another day of dense fog in the city threw the movement of trains out of gear, as the Northern Railway cancelled six trains from Delhi on Saturday, and announced the cancellation of 13 trains till January 31.

With phone enquiry lines busy, passengers were stranded at stations. “I was trying to know my train’s changed schedule but the lines were busy. I had to come to the station to find out,” said Jyotsna Krishnan, a passenger at the New Delhi Railway Station.

Another traveller Gaurav Gupta had a ‘harrowing’ time at the Nizamuddin Railway Station. “I have been waiting for the August Kranti Rajdhani Express to Mumbai. After I reached the station, I came to know it would leave three hours later,” said Gupta, a banker in Mumbai, who had come to visit his family in Dwarka.

The trains cancelled on Sunday include the New Delhi-Agra Express, Mahabodhi Express, Kaifiyat Express, Delhi-Sultanpur Express, Delhi-Darbhanga Express and Mahananda Express.

Rewa Express, Farraka Express, Katihar-Amritsar Express, Bareilly-Allahabad Express and Jhansi-Lucknow Express have been cancelled till January 31.

Nearly 70 trains have been running late for one week due to dense fog across north India.

The Lucknow Shatabdi Express, scheduled to arrive in the city at 10 pm on Friday, was reportedly running late by over 12 hours. The trains running behind schedule also include the Rajdhanis from Mumbai, Howrah, Sealdah and Rejendra Nagar (Patna).
