The Veraval police have registered an offence against the owner of Indraprastha coaching class in Krishna Nagar Street no 4 for allegedly making indecent cellphone clippings and video recordings of girl students at his institute. The accused is yet to be arrested, the police said.

Veraval city Assistant Sub-Inspector S S Babariya has lodged a complaint against Hitesh Jamnadas Kariya under Section 293 of the Indian Penal Code.

After the scandal surfaced, Kariya shifted his resident from Veraval to Rajkot and is at present, residing at B/7, Surya Park Apartment in Rajkot city.

The police have also recovered a CD of the clippings.

Veraval city Inspector B J Ninama said the scandal was unearthed following an application. Investigation is underway and appropriate action will be taken at a suitable stage, he said.

Investigating Officer, Head Constable G V Kathad said, “The investigation is at a primary stage, and they are recording the statements of the concerned persons.” He refused to divulge further information saying it may jeopardise the investigation process.
