Owners revealed that they are expecting fresh supplies on Saturday morning.
Only eleven Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) pumps in the city received supplies today afternoon.
Traffic snarls were the order of the day on Ferozepur Road, Pakhowal Road, Dugri and other areas where fuel was available.
The strike was called off today, with employees of IOCL and BPCL joining work on Saturday.
Lifting of garbage from various points around the city was suspended for the day by civic officials as MC vehicles also ran out of fuel.
But government vehicles had a smooth ride as the district Food and Civil Supplies Control Office had directed all pumps on Thursday to keep 1,000 litres of petrol and diesel as reserve stock. The official cadre availed of these supplies today while the common man went around in circles.
