New Delhi, February 13 ONGC XI beat Ahbab FC, Delhi by a solitary goal in a league match of the Lt Governor Invitational DDA Football Tournament to stay in contention for the title at the Ambedkar Stadium here today. The match-winner came from the boot of Salau Nurudeen Olawale in the 9th minute of the contest.

The Man of the Match award went to F Lalnaun Punia, also from ONGC.

In another league game of the day, Jammu and Kashmir Bank and Garhwal Heroes, New Delhi, played out a goalless draw.

The Man of the Match in the second contest went to Martin Kalewole of J&K Bank.

In fact, both games featured sides that failed to up the ante despite having several scoring opportunities coming their way.

In fact, the match between Ahbab and ONGC in particular saw quite a few exchanges in the first session soon after ONGC went ahead.

But lacking in finishing, their forwards muffed quite a few chances from the penalty box. On the other hand, Ahbab seemed content to keep the ONGC forwards at bay and it was evident in their gameplan.

As for the second game, the teams hardly made any worthwhile attempt to gain full points. If it was a dull and drab affair in the first session, the teams failed to raise the bar in the second as well.
