Pune A gritty century by Omkar Akhade saved SSPMS (day) much embarrassment after they were bowled out for 231 runs at the end of day one of the Kohinoor Karandak under-14 inter school cricket tournament organized by Poona District Cricket Association held at the Varroc Vengsarkar Cricket Academy ground on Tuesday.

The top order of the SSPMS School experienced a collapse thanks to a wonderful spell of bowling by Mujakir Shaikh and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who picked up three wickets each.

But it was the partnership of Omkar Akhade and Prithviraj Shilamkar that pulled their team out of danger.

They helped put up a respectable total for their team.

Omkar ended the day with 110 runs while Shilamkar supported him well with a knock of 41.

Results:
SSPMS (Day) (1st inns) 231 all out in 90.2: (Omkar Akhade 110, Prithviraj Shilamkar 41,Mujakir Shaikh 3/55, Ruturaj Gaikwad 3/41) vs. Angels High School
