Om Prakash, who was shot in the thigh during a scuffle with the accused, is now said to be out of danger at the ICU of Fortis Hospital in Noida. Police have not been able to nab the culprits yet.
According to police, the four accused, who were in a Santro car, were were playing loud music and driving around in the area for over an hour.
Eyewitness said the men were drinking in the car and had parked the car outside the office of Neuro Technologies in Sector-62 at 1.30 am when by Om Prakash, who was on patrol on his bike, stopped by.
Police said one of the men had an argument with him and when asked to step out, they snatched his revolver and fired at him, injuring him in his right thigh. They later fled with his wallet, the battery of his cell phone, the revolver and some bullets, police said.
N Jha, a security guard posted at the office of the company, informed the Sector-58 police and took Om to the hospital. “They were playing loud music and drove around the area for close to an hour,” Jha said.
A few months back, Yogendra Singh, the then in-charge of the same police post was dragged under a car by drunk men to NH-24 and thrown off the car.
Police say special teams have been formed to search for the accused. Senior Superintendent of Police A Sathish Ganesh visited the hospital and assured “quick action” in the matter.
