Chandigarh, January 2 Schools in the tricity witnessed rather low attendance rates on Wednesday. The schools had reopened today after the winter break. Attendance was also low in the senior classes.

The teachers are expecting the situation to continue for a few days.

The teachers blamed the cold wave conditions and forthcoming exams for the low attendance rates.

Anujit Kaur, Principal, Government Model Senior Secondary School said, “We had very low attendance rates in both junior and the senior classes on Wednesday. We expect the attendance to reach normal levels soon.”

The low attendance also forced many teachers to discuss the winter break, rather than focus on important academic engagements.

Government schools also plan to start coaching classes for under-privileged students appearing in the CBSE exams.
