Several cars could be seen plying within the campus even today, which happened to be the first Monday of the month. Topping the list of violators was PU vice-chancellor Prof R C Sobti followed by the chairpersons of various departments.
The officials, however, never fail to list this "non-implemented venture" as one of their starry achievements during most public functions.
In addition to the no-vehicle day commitment, it was also proposed that professors should paddle inside the university. The latter proposal, however, was never implemented. While the officials had 'driven' into the campus today to attend the meeting of all heads of the departments, they realised their folly when their pictures were being clicked.
Talking to Newsline, the chairperson of a department said, "It's not that we do not wish to follow the no-vehicle day but most of the time we forget to remember it. I agree that it should be popularised more with all of us putting in some efforts".
