On Republic Day, Admn to felicitate 17 residents for distinguished, meritorious services

Chandigarh The UT Administration will award 17 Commendation Certificates to city residents and employees of the Administration at the Republic Day function on January 26 for rendering “outstanding” services in their respective fields of work.

As many as nine police personnel would also be conferred with the Administrator’s Police Medal for distinguished or meritorious services. The names include: Karnail Singh and Mahi Pal Nand for the Administrator’s Police Medal for distinguished services, Nitya Nadn, Uday Pal Singh, Naseeb Singh, Didar Singh, Suresh Kumar, Ram Karan and Dilbag Singh for the Administrator’s Police Medal for meritorious services. Baldev Kumar and Manjeet Singh of UT Police would also be awarded for their meritorious services.

While Madhu Bahl, principal of KB DAV, Sector 7, will be awarded for meritorious services in Art and social services, Dr Paramjyoti, Medical Officer, Health department, has been selected for his meritorious service in the field of Health.

Urvi Manocha, a student of Class VI, Manav Mangal High School, Sector 21, will also be awarded for her contribution to dance and music.

Another student Priya, has been awarded for excelling in the field of environment.

Mannu Singh, Horticulture Inspector of Chandigarh Housing Board, will also be awarded for meritorious service.

Among those awarded for excellence in social work are Promila Chandra Mohan, a resident of Sector 36, K L Zakir, a resident of Sector 44, Baldev Aggarwal, a resident of Sector 27 and Kanwar Paul, a resident of Rajeev Vihar, Manimajra.

Two residents — Jagdish Lal Ahuja from Sector 23 and Brig M L Kataria from Sector 16 — have been named the “Pride of Chandigarh” in the field of social service. Dr Amit Bhattacharjee, a resident of Sector 46, has been awarded for meritorious service as a sports trainer.

The Resident Welfare of Sector 43 and I S Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, Sector 21 will also be felicitated during the function.
