With ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ all set for release, the film’s stars are going all out making appearances. Look who’s the celebrity guest on Indian Idol 4 this week? It’s the long-legged Deepika Padukone! The charming and rather down-to-earth actor arrived on the sets of Indian Idol and sportingly shook a leg with the contestants no matter how many times she was called on stage. In fact, she even pitched in with a few renditions! Interestingly, Deepika trained for eight months learning martial arts for her film as well as a bit of Chinese. On the spur of the moment on the sets she told the girls of Indian Idol, “I will show you a trick.” She then went on stage and demonstrated a sleek move in self defence. In return, the Indian Idol contestants had a surprise for Deepika. They celebrated her birthday on the sets and even her parents made a rare appearance on the show. Papa Prakash Padukone stood proudly beside his daughter and said that just as shows like Indian Idol helped showcase the singing talent of youngsters, he hoped there would be opportunities for youngsters to do likewise in sports. This week on Indian Idol every contestant will perform a song sung by their favourite icon. While Bhavya Pandit considers Asha Bhosle as her idol, Prasenjit is an ardent fan of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Sourabhee loves R D Burman’s music while Bhanu is a Sonu Nigam fan. Catch Deepika Padukone sing and dance with the contestants on Indian Idol this Friday, January 9 at 9 pm on Sony.
