This store takes you back in time. The Sheng’s Shoe Store in Sector 17-B looks exactly the way it did when it was set up in the 1960s. One actually feels you are standing somewhere in China. The silence of the shop is welcoming.

Jenny Lee, the pleasant Chinese owner of the store, remembers: “My husband, Lee Sheng Fong, set up the first Sheng’s showroom in Sector 19 in 1957, before moving to Sector 17 in 1967,” and then adds proudly, “It was the first shoe store that opened in Chandigarh.”

Since the very beginning, Sheng’s has provided it’s customers with genuine leather shoes. “When my husband started this venture, he made each and every shoe himself. After our wedding in 1976, I started helping him around the store off and on,” she smiles. Jenny makes it a point to attend to every customer herself. It is this personal attention that makes the old and loyal customers of the store come back here time and again. “We actually have customers who have been coming to Sheng’s since the last 50 years!” she beams.

After her husband passed away in 1995, Jenny started working at Sheng’s full time. Till date, Sheng’s is the only shoe outlet in Chandigarh that provides it’s customers with original, authentic and traditional Chinese designer shoes, made with pure and genuine leather.

“There are people who still prefer wearing such designs owing to comfort and durability. Sheng’s has something for everyone. Our shoes range between Rs 300 and 2500, which is quite affordable,” sums up Jenny.
