One dead as crude bomb explodes in Chayanavi

Kolkata One person died and another was injured when a crude bomb exploded at Chayanavi in the outskirts of Salt Lake today.

In the morning one of the bombs kept at a shanty exploded and two persons were seriously injured in the incident.

While one of the victims, Suman Das, succumbed to injuries at the Bidhannagar Hospital, Sankar Roy has been admitted to R G Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Bidhannagar), North-24 Parganas, Debobrata Das said one arrest has been made so far in the case.

The site where the explosion occurred is next to a CPM office and local Trinamool leaders alleged that CPM men were making crude bombs at the site.

According to Sabasanchi Dutta, a local Trinamool leader, all those who are injured are CPM supporters.

Dutta alleged that no senior police officer went to the site for inspection.

Locals said the police have recovered several crude bombs and arms and ammunition from the spot. However, the police did not confirm the catche till late evening.
