One held for robbery, accomplice still at large

Chandigarh, February 1 A Sector 23 C resident, Harish Chander Mehra, was allegedly attacked at his house by one Satnam, a Jammy resident and his unidentified accomplice, who tried to rob the complainant’s house.

The accused forcibly tried to enter Harish’s residence but were stopped in time by Harish, responding to which, they tried to attack him with a knife. Harish raised an alarm because of which Satnam was overpowered the neighbours, who handed him over to the police for further investigations.

A case was registered against Satnam and his unidentified accomplice on charges of attempt to commit criminal trespass and robbery.

Raising the snatching-toll to seven in the last 48 hours, two more snatching incidents were reported in the city today. Both incidents happened in broad daylight. At about 12 noon, two unidentified motorcycle riders sped away after snatching a gold chain from Jaswant Kaur, a Sector 30 B resident, outside her residence.

Another incident took place in Sector 43 within fifteen minutes of the first incident. This time, two youngsters riding a motorbike snatched the purse of a Ludhiana resident, Sudesh Rana, from near KLG hotel, Sector 43.
