Vadodara Miscreants looted a petrol pump on Ankleshwar-Jhagadia Road around 7 pm on Saturday and decamped with Rs 3,000 after injuring a worker. Jhagadia police said the incident took place at the Ranipura petrol pump, when seven to eight goons attacked the station, which is situated on an isolated stretch. Inspector J P Patel said the goons were armed with sticks and swords and had come on motorcycles. They first blocked the entry to the petrol pump and then attacked the staff, police said. Police officers said while fleeing from the spot, the attackers threatened the staff to come back, as they could not get a handsome amount from the pump. Meanwhile, the police suspect that it was the same group, which had attacked a mango farm near Vedaj in January. No one have been arrested yet. The police said this was the second petrol pump to be looted in the last two months.

Drivers held with illegal liquor, sent to judicial custody
The Vadodara Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested two truck drivers with Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) while they were going to Dahod. On Sunday, the duo was sent to judicial custody for five days. DCB officials said the accused were carrying liquor worth Rs 16.4 lakh from Silvassa to Dahod. They said their interrogation can lead to the kingpin of illegal liquor smuggling cartel across the state. Inspector K M Polra, while conducting a special operation on February 4, had arrested the two, who were carrying liquor cases in two Tata turbo trucks. The police said both the trucks had Surat registration numbers, while the drivers — Pravin Nawabsinh Chauhan and Naresh Chauhan — belong to Etah district of Uttar Pradesh.
