Agra, February 8 All police stations in the state will accept FIRs online by the year-end, said Director General of Police Dr Vikram Singh on Friday.

He was speaking at the National Conference on Cyber Crime and Cyber Law 2008, organised at Hotel Jaypee Palace. Singh added that policemen are being trained in IT skills to tackle cyber crimes and expedite the process.

“After the registration of online FIRs, probe will immediately begin and reports will be available online within 15 days. The entire investigation proceeding will be stored in an e-format to help in speedy redressal of complaints,” he said.

He further said that soon computer literacy would become mandatory while recruiting policemen. While speaking on the mobile recovering cell, Singh said orders in this regard have already been issued and soon the cell will be operational in Agra.

Singh said: “The police must be trained to control such crimes. Only 480 cases have been registered under IT Act 2000 owing to ignorance among policemen about computers.”
