Chandigarh “The Opposition has run out of issues and we have performed exceedingly well in the last two years,” said Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal while listing out reasons for the Congress’s decision to boycott the assembly.

Talking to mediapersons here today, he said, “We will win all the 13 seats and the NDA will form the government. People of the state do not want UPA at the Centre; they want a change.”

“We will not forge an alliance with a party that is not part of the NDA,” asserted Sukhbir.

Reiterating that LK Advani was the prime ministerial candidate, he said till date no meeting with the NDA has been organised so far, but once it’s held, the common minimum programme would be chalked out. He added that the Akali manifesto was being drafted by party secretary general SS Dhindsa.

Once again Sukhbir said one of his family members would contest from Bathinda. But when asked who, he first remained quiet and when repeatedly nudged, he said, “The lady of the house will fight from there.” He did not specify if she would be his wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal or mother Surinder Kaur Badal.

Sukhbir said as the Home Minister of the state, he would make sure that the elections were free and fair. “Nobody will be allowed to take law in their hands,” he added.

He said three international airports in Punjab, one already functional, have got the nod and would come up at Mohali and near Ludhiana.
