Mumbai Otters Club (Bandra), who were involved in some of the tough matches on their way to final, played like a well-oiled machine to blank Khar Gymkhana 5-0 in the final of the BSAM’s inaugural 9-Ball Pool league-cum-knockout championships, held at P.J.Hindu Gymkhana on late Sunday night. Khar Gymkhana youngsters, who were cock-a-hoop after their easy win over Islam Gymkhana in the semifinals, were bundle of nerves while facing the likes of Yasin Merchant and the Mirchandani brothers and Rishab Thakar on a neutral table (Hindu Gymkhana). Khar Gymkhana’s main hopes Amandeep Kohli and Manoj Kasare disappointed in both their outings, missing some easy shots at the crunch.

As in the earlier rounds, Otters’ Mirchandani brothers, Harish and Roshan and Rishab Thakar stood out, while their India stalwart Yasin Merchant did his bit to see Otters running away with the title. Earlier in the semifinals, the Mirchandani brothers, Roshan and Harish - played a pivotal role in their 5-4 win over P.J.Hindu Gymkhana 5-4 while Khar Gymkhana surprised fancied Islam Gymkhana 5-1. However, the tie between Hindu Gymkhana and Otters was full of ups and downs.

The unpredictable nature of this type of 9-ball pool league can be gauged by the fact that internationals stalwarts from both the teams, Yasin Merchant from Otters and Devendra Joshi from Hindu Gymkhana failed to make much of an impact on the out come of the tie.
