Charandas Chor, a signature play of Habib Tanvir’s Naya Theatre tells the story of Charandas, a loveable thief who takes four vows in jest. He vows never to eat off a golden plate, never to ride on an elephant at the head of a procession, never to marry a queen and never to accept the throne of a country. He becomes the region’s greatest thief and prankster, all the while refusing to lie even when it means peril to his own life.

A sight for sore eyes
Catch an exhibition of paintings by Sandhya Rajadhyaksha and Pradip Mahadik. While Rajadhyaksha has selected the theme of water, capturing the beauty of water bodies like lakes, waterfalls and oceans, Mahadik has done charcoal and watercolour paintings of landscapes. “After a harrowing day at work, the seeing waterbodies can be such a refreshing experience,” says Rajadhyaksha. Mahadik says he went to many national parks and even the countryside to get inspiration for his collection.
