A number of representatives from Muslim organisations, including the All India Milli Council, met Sattar after results were announced last week for the examination for the posts of sergeants and sub-inspectors in Kolkata police. It was seen that only five Muslims out of the 222 general seats were successful in passing out as sergeants and six Muslims out of 116 general seats were successful in passing out as sub-inspectors. “It is just two per cent of the jobs that went to the Muslims. Nearly 104 passed in the written exam but they failed in the interview. We wrote to the CM and met state minority development minister,” said Shahood Alam, general secretary of West Bengal Milli Council.
