Vadodara In a major reshuffling exercise, over 128 senior officials from District Education Offices (DEO) from across the state have been given immediate transfer orders.

The orders have been issued taking the upcoming Lok Sabha elections into consideration. The orders, however, have come into place just before the class X and XII Board exams.

The transfer orders, which have been given by the Commissioner of Education, cover all education inspectors responsible for the school education in the state.

All inspectors who have been with the same District Education Office for over five years have been selected for the reshuffling exercise.

Four Assistant Education Inspectors from the Vadodara District Education Office have been given the orders. While two of them have been transferred to the Bhavnagar centre, the other two officials have been sent to the Narmada centre.

Apart from the inspectors, two head clerks from the Vadodara District Education Centre have also been transferred with a promotion. Each of them will resume duty at Bhavnagar and Porbandar centres respectively.

The reshuffling orders were passed on Friday and those transferred will resume duties at the new centres from Monday.

"It is a routine process for all those who have not received any transfers for five years. It is also an exercise, which is followed before the upcoming elections," said R K Patel, District Education Officer, Vadodara.

Over 68 officials from across the state have been promoted during the reshuffling process.
