P&G launches SHIKSHA ’08

Chandigarh, April 08 After helping over 67,000 children get education in the last four years, Procter and Gamble in partnership with Child Rights and You (CRY) is back again with Shiksha 2008.

Shiksha is P&G’s corporate social responsibility programme in which all the consumers can help educate underprivileged children by simply buying any of the P&G’s product in the months of April, May and June '08.

With a motto of “Padhega India, Badhega India”, the programme aims at providing eductaion to all for a brighter India. Shiksha is being supported by celebrities like Sushmita Sen, Rahul Bose, Konkona Sen, Tabu, Soha Ali Khan, Lara Dutta, Preity Zinta, Kiran Bedi, Sanjana Kapoor, Jatin Das, Shaan and others. The programme was launched by Bollywood actors Kajol and Sharmila Tagore.

CRY, along with the State Education Department, has helped in modifying existing education policies, create awareness to build more schools with better infrastructure and basic amenities like water, electricity, health; enroll more children into formal schools .
