New Delhi Despite team management’s reservations, Amit Pagnis has been recalled for the Railways Ranji ODI squad. Management was keen on the young opener Prashant Awasthi, but the selectors picked the tried and tested man in Pagnis.

Amit had left the squad to join his grieving family after the death of his brother-in-law. And his commitment to the game was called into question after he requested to be left out of the matches. “This is another chance for Amit. And I hope he pulls the team along well with his experience,” Railways coach Abhay Sharma said.

Murali Kartik will lead the side with Sanjib Sanyal as his deputy.

Squad: Murali Kartik (c), Sanjib Sanyal (vc), Sanjay Bangar, Amit Pagnis, Cheluvuraj, Yere Goud, Dipak Yadav, Dilip Yadav, Mahesh Rawat (wk), Lalit Verma, Anureet Singh, Agha Shahid, Dhiren Salvi, Musavir Khote, Karn Sharma.
