New Delhi The special staff of Delhi Police have arrested a 41-year-old Pakistan national staying illegally in the Capital for the past 19 years. He was arrested on Sunday.

Police sources said Mohammed Mohsin Ahmed alias Mohan was arrested from his residence in Phase II of Madangir area of Ambedkar Nagar in Southeast Delhi. Three passports with varying expiry dates were seized from him. The most recent one was valid till 2006.

Ahmed was jointly interrogated by the special cell and intelligence bureau sleuths after the arrest and was later handed over to the Research Analysis Wing, RAW, for interrogation.

“Ahmed who had come to the Capital in 1990 was staying here ever since,” the police said.

Sources said he hails from Karachi in Pakistan and is married to Delhi resident, Reshma, who lives with him.

The couple has five children and the family lives in rented accommodation. Reshma’s parents, who used to stay in Ballimaran earlier, shifted to Ambedkar Nagar a few years back.

Ahmed had claimed in his interrogation that he works as a property dealer in the Capital and Lakharpur area of Haryana.

“Ahmed has studied till class 12 and speaks fluent English,” investigating officers said.

Police sources said that though his statements were verified and found out to be correct, his mobile phone details raised suspicions as he had made several calls to Karachi and Canada.

An FIR has been registered against Ahmed and further investigations are on.

During interrogation, Ahmad said Reshma had also visited Pakistan in 1991 for about three or four months.

The police had been working on this particular case for the past two months and arrested Ahmed after a tip-off.

Confirming the arrest, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Southeast district, Shalini Singh said, “We have arrested Mohammed Mohsin Ahmed who is a Pakistani national for overstaying in India.”
