Panchkula, January 6 The Panchkula district administration has decided to shift the crusher zone from the present location, near Burjkotia village. The administration has identified four new locations to establish the crusher zone.

According to Panchkula DC Rajender Kumar Kataria, a proposal has been sent to the state government. “The government will take the final decision,” said Kataria. “The present location is very close to National Highway (NH 22).”

Due to the zone, traffic congestion in the NH is increasing day by day. “Also, pollution is increasing,” said the DC.

He said at this stage it would be difficult to reveal the new proposed sites that have been suggested to the state government by the administration. The final decision, however, is expected soon.

A senior official of the administration, on the condition of anonymity, said the two proposed sites were close to the NH. “We have taken care of the fact that the zone requires constant water supply, and it is for the reason that all the four sites proposed are close to the Ghaggar River,” said the official.

A reason for the shifting the zone is that at present there are several illegal crushers operating from the area.

It is for the second time the crusher zone is being shifted. In early 90’s it was shifted from Surajpur village to the present site.

Meanwhile, one of the owners of the stone crushers operating from the zone said that it was not a right decision to change the location after every few years. “Many of us may not able to shift. The administration decides everything with consulting with us, and we are at the receiving end,” said Jaspal Singh, one of the owners of the stone crusher.
