Panchkula The Panchkula Municipal Council has blamed the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for the delay in its project to sterlise stray dogs in the city.

The council had proposed using the slaughterhouse in Industrial Area Phase 2 to carry out sterilisation programmes.

“We proposed to utilise the unused slaughterhouse for the purpose as there was no other space available. But the boundary walls of the slaughterhouse are too low and not properly constructed at some parts. We had therefore requested HUDA to raise the

walls and provide us other basic requirements so that work could be started,” said council vice-president B B Singal.

Despite several requests, HUDA has not taken any action, Singhal added. The Municipal Council had recently tied up with NGO People for Animals for the project.
