Chandigarh, February 7 The result of the recruitment test of 270 constables in Chandigarh Police has been withheld at Centre Police Research (CPR), New Delhi, following reports of a paper leak. Though none of the UT police officers confirmed the development, sources in Delhi Police said the CPR is not declaring the result because the matter is being investigated.

At present, the recruitment of assistant sub-inspectors and constables, which was conducted last month in Chandigarh, is shrouded in a cloud of suspicion.

Delhi Police had arrested a few of its men in January suspecting their involvement in the paper leak.

During questioning of the accused, Delhi Police had arrived at manage to lay their hands on vital clues including a register, said sources.

The Central Administrative Tribunal has already issued a stay order on the selection of ASIs.

The next hearing of the case is on February 12, when the court has asked Chandigarh Police to submit its reply.

The written test for constables was conducted in Chandigarh on January 27. According to the intelligence wing of Chandigarh Police, the very next day, they got information that the paper had been leaked.

Acting on specific tip-offs about the involvement of a few Delhi Police personnel in the scam, Chandigarh Police teams went to New Delhi and shared information with their Delhi counterparts.

Delhi Police Crime Branch managed to nab five of its men, including Sub-Inspector Ram Chander Gulia and Assistant Sub-Inspector Pale Ram. Two prime accused, Joginder Dahiya and Sanjay Rana, are still at large.

Sources said a few of the candidates, who appeared for the constables’ recruitment test, solved the question papers on January 26 night, at a school in Ateli village, Mahendergarh district of Haryana.

The candidates from Ganiyar, Tigra, Perthipura, Maghi, Bochhdiya and a few other neighbouring areas helped them solve the question papers.

The written exam was conducted on the morning of January 27 in Chandigarh. The result, according to information, was supposed to be declared this week. Sources said Delhi Police was conducting raids to nab the two accused who are absconding, Dahiya and Rana.
