The experiment has also received recognition at the national-level after a paper presentation in Bhopal, organised by the Distance Education Programme, a component of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, which works in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
The paper, presented by Sarita Tewari, a lecturer at the State Institute of Education, Sector 32, conducted in a classroom, where students belonging to the under-privileged sections of society were also present.
Tewari says the study is ideally suited for handling students in elementary school, who fear using language and have not achieved the desired level of proficiency.
The paper states that first generation learners have a hard time and children are not able to express themselves in government schools and fail to read and comprehend by the end of third grade. They are also likely to drop out of school. The reasons for this include an unimaginative curriculum, lack of resources and attitude of teachers towards change to name a few.
