Chandigarh The problem of adequate parking area was the focus of attention of H K Jaggi, Division Railway Manager, Ambala, at the general inspection with his team from Ambala division today. The team also decided to widen the entry road.

“A new entry route from the Chandigarh side will be made. This will be parallel to the existing one. As against the existing entry road, which is two lane, the new one will be four lane. The railways has also received permission to cut trees near the main entry from the Chandigarh side, which will be used as the entry route and work on it has already started,” Jaggi said.

The existing narrow route will then be used to expand the parking area. “In order to avoid congestion and traffic chaos at peak hours, the parking area, which is adjacent to the entry, will be expanded. There has been a pending demand for the expansion of parking, keeping in view increasing traffic at the station,” he added.

The exit road from the station was recently expanded from two to four lane. The road carpeting work will also start after a week, when the area is cleared after the trees have been cut.

No changes were, however, proposed for the parking and entry from the Panchkula side. “The parking area is adequate at the Panchkula side as traffic is comparatively less there as compared to the Chandigarh side,” Jaggi said.
