A group of residents, mostly women from Samartha Colony raided the bungalow on Saturday. The residents nabbed the bungalow owner, Nandakumar Shivajirao Kadam, manager of massage parlour Bharat Arjun Kamble (40) of Sutarwadi, Pashan, and his accomplice Raju Namdeo Sutar and six girls and handed them over to the police.
Kadam and Sutar managed to escape when the police was taking them to the Sangvi police station in a van. This angered the residents who mobbed the police station. They alleged that the police was not taking the case seriously. They demanded action against the officers responsible for the escape of duo. The police, however, arrested Kadam and Sutar on Sunday.
The duo along with six girls identified as Deepa Naidu, Lata Koli, Smita Reddy, Sonali Patil, Swati Pawar and Sonali Kamble were booked under sections of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. The residents demanded stern action against the accused saying that the massage centre has spoiled the atmosphere in their cultured middle class society.
A Shop Act licence found at the spot stated that “Jyoti Rahul Naidu” owned the massage centre called “Jyoti Massage Clinic”. Though the clinic was located in a bungalow at Pimple Nilakh, the Shop Act licence for operating it was issued by a shop inspector in Ahmednagar.
