“By withdrawing support to the UPA government, the Left parties are in a desperate search for an electoral ally,” he said on Tuesday. He added that the Left, known for their aggressive stance on the issues concerning the common people, were nowhere in national politics after it withdrew support from the UPA.

Paswan, who is also the president of the newly-formed National Dalit Front (NDF), said: “Earlier, almost all parties were eager to ally with the Left front. But today, the situation has reversed and the Left is knocking on the doors of others, without any response.”

Citing the recent defeat of the Left Front candidate in West Bengal’s Nandigram by-election, Paswan said: “Defeat in Nandigram should be an eye-opener for Left Parties, as they had to eat the humble pie in their own bastion.”

According to the LJP chief, the political situation in Uttar Pradesh was similar to what it was 2007 when Mulayam Singh Yadav was routed in the Assembly elections.

“BSP is not a political party but an extortion racket. In the next Lok Sabha elections, it will be reduced to a dozen MPs. Mayawati’s dream of becoming the Prime Minister will be shattered,” Paswan said.

He further said that NDF was the real face of the Dalits and will provide an alternative platform for the oppressed sections to raise their voice against the atrocities of the BSP. “The elephant of the BSP has gone berserk. No one is safe and secure in the state,” he said.
