PAU flower show to showcase city’s blooms

Ludhiana A flower show and competition will be organised by the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), on the university campus on February 25 and 26 as part of Dr M S Randhawa’s birth anniversary celebrations.

Head of department Dr Ramesh Kumar said that the competition will be open to individuals, private institutions, amateurs, government and semi-government institutions and nurseries.

There will be ten categories and 144 sections at the flower show comprising fresh/dry flower arrangements, cut flowers, flower ornaments, flowers grown in pots, succulents, foliage, cacti, ferns and bonsai plants.

He added that the programme is being organised in collaboration with the Estate Organisation of PAU. The entries for competition will be received by 10 am on February 25, without any entry fee, he said. Entry forms (given in the brochure) will also be available at the registration counter of the flower show.

PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Kang is likely to inaugurate the flower show on February 25 while the prize distribution function will be held on the next day. The show will be open to general public after 1.30 pm on February 26.
