He appreciated PAU faculty, employees and students for their team work in the on-going programmes of university and for serving the cause of farming community of the state. The re-prioritized programmes for the coming years were also highlighted. He said that the university would lay emphasis on bio-technology research, eco-friendly and cost-effective technologies for natural resource management, use of farm machinery for alternative crops, precision agriculture, bio-fuels etc.
Dr Kang said that research work would be initiated to develop micro-nutrient in crops through their bio- fortification and that a market intelligence cell for planning market-oriented research would be set up.
He said that the PAU had caught the attention of international organisations adding that the facility of distance learning, nano-technology lab and electron microscope had put the university on a strong footing. He said that research through global partnership would be explored further.
