Ludhiana, January 31 A Deputation of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union met Secretary Higher Education Anjali Bawra at Chandigarh today, to resolve the deadlock on the amendment of Security of Service Act 1974, and discuss the present status of the union’s demands.

Punjab Legislative Assembly had amended the Act in December. Following this, PCCTU held protests by burning copies of the amended Act on January 15 all over the state.

The secretary, who was accompanied by DPI Colleges Dr Kanwaljit Singh, assured the deputation that Clause 4 of Section 6 (which excludes around two lakh teachers working against un-aided posts from the security of service umbrella) will be amended again to provide security of service to all the employees.
