Pune The Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) has suspended two of its officers for causing a loss of Rs 80 lakh by selling a plot of land to the second highest bidder. PCNTDA information and sale officer R G Godbole and Planning Officer Anil Kale have been suspended as the enquiry is on.

PCNTDA chief executive officer Suhas Diwase said that preliminary investigation has found both the officers guilty of passing on the piece of land to the second highest bidder instead of the highest bidder.

“Primary investigation has found them guilty. Because of their action, the PCNTDA has suffered a loss of Rs 80 lakh. Both of them remain suspended till the departmental probe is complete. They have been suspended to ensure a fair probe,” he said.

Diwase said that the piece of land went to the second highest bidder probably due to lack of clarity in the location of the land alloted during the tender process. “It was only when the land in question was being demarcated that the highest bidder raised an alarm and the matter came to light,” he said. The land is located in Sector 29 of Pradhikaran.

The decision to suspend the two officers was taken at a meeting held two days ago. PCNTDA chairman Dilip Band was present at the meeting.
