Mumbai Mohammed Mansoor Ashgar Peerbhoy, the computer engineer accused of sending emails on behalf of Indian Mujahideen (IM) about different blasts across the country, was remanded to seven days police custody by a Delhi court on Monday.

Peerbhoy, a former employee of Yahoo Incorporation, was brought to the capital by Delhi Police Special Cell on February 28 for his alleged role in the September 13 serial blasts in Delhi last year.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja allowed the plea of police seeking seven days fresh custodial interrogation of the accused.

Public Prosecutor Rajeev Mohan sought police remand of the accused, saying he was to be taken to Bombay and Hyderabad to identify the places of training imparted to other accused for carrying out terror activities across the country.

He also said that the accused was to be confronted with recoveries by the Mumbai Police following arrest of Peerbhoy in September last year.

M S Khan, counsel for accused opposed the plea stating that the accused had already been in police custody and his alleged role vis-a-vis the Delhi serial blasts had already been revealed by the investigating agency in the five chargesheet filed till now.

According to the police, Peerbhoy, 31, the alleged head of IM media cell was accused of sending e-mail minutes before the serial blasts in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
