According to the police, Mansoor had used this car to hack the Wi-Fi account of Khalsa College in Matunga for sending e-mails to media houses minutes before the blasts in Gujarat and Delhi and had also travelled in it from Pune to Matunga.
Adil, who moved the application before the special Mahrashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court recently, said that he owns the black Maruti Esteem bearing the registration no (MH-12-CA-44309).
The application states that Adil had purchased this car from one Shakhur Bagwan in 2005 and has been using it since then. “If an accused travels by bus, train, taxi or rickshaw, then that vehicle cannot be seized nor can it be used as evidence in the trial,” the application stated.
However, the crime branch has strongly opposed the plea stating, “The chances of Adil disposing the car are high and thus it would not be available at the time of trial. Since Mansoor had used the car, it is of prime importance.” Adil’s application will come up for hearing on January 21.
Adil, an architect by profession, used to stay with his family and brother in Pune. Mansoor, who worked with a multinational software company in Pune, was held responsible for hacking unsecured Wi-Fi networks in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai and sending emails to news channels minutes before the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts and the September 13 Delhi explosions. He was arrested and has been in judicial custody since then.
