Ludhiana, March 3 With no respite from the state government in sight, pensioners of Punjab Agricultural University are planning to approach the Centre.

They have decided to write to the President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice and other senior office. The pensioners have not been disbursed their money since November 2007.

Meanwhile, the pensioners had intensified their protest.

They observed a relay hunger strike for the entire last week and took out a procession outside the university campus.

The fast was resumed on Monday.

The pensioners, however, seem reluctant to approach the court, which is the strongest course of action available for them. Their contention: it is a very lengthy process.

Dr IK Garg, President, Convenor, Confederation of the PAU Pensioners’ Association, said they are also planning to extend their protest to the Kisan Mela by boycotting it.

The Convenor of the association, however, said, they are trying to find ways so that farmers coming from far-flung villages do not have to suffer.
