Pune, January 5 Pet dogs played a vital role in preventing the theft of music systems from the cars on Lane No 5 of Koregaon Park in the wee hours of Saturday. Meanwhile, the residents of this lane have claimed that such thefts are on an alarming rise in their area.

Bina Abhishek Agarwal of Ashiyana Bungalow in Vidyut Nagar Society has filed a complaint with the Bundgarden police saying some unknown people broke the window glass of her car at around 4 am. The thieves were looking to steal the music system, but could not make it as the emergency lights of the car started glowing before some pet dogs there started barking loudly, according to husband Abhishek Agarwal.

“We have found the broken window glass of our car at the spot. The thieves possibly cancelled their plan in the fear of getting caught by the citizens who had awaken because of the barking dogs,” he said. Agarwal though added burglars have been creating havoc in Koregaon Park for a while. “A music system was stolen from a neighbour’s car a couple of months ago. The police have assured to increase night patrolling in the region,” he said.
