Deshpande said teachers of philosophy should reinvent the subject and make it interesting for engineers, businessmen, doctors and other professionals. “The subject must be receptive of developments in cognitive sciences and consciousness studies that are already taught as interdisciplinary subjects in the west,” he said. Agreeing with him, Bhatkar said that someone should innovate philosophy and interpret the truths cited by our saints in today’s context. Deepak Tilak, vice chancellor of Tilak Maharahstra Vidyapeeth, Mangesh Karad, executive director, MIT, Mrunal Kothari, principal L K Kshirsagar, Milind Pandey and others were present on the occasion.
