Pune Six months after gangrape of a 22-year-old employee of IBM Daksha call centre at Phursungi, there is still no breakthrough in the case. The rural police recently received the forensic report of rape case from Kalina Lboratory in Mumbai, which states that the victim was not given any sedatives or drugs before she was raped. The police now suspect that the girl was raped, but it was not a gangrape.

The victim’s friend, Hansraj Bramhane, had lodged a complaint of gang rape at the Loni Kalbhor police station against unidentified persons in August 2008. The complaint stated that the victim received a call from the office on the night of August 7. She went to the office in a car. But a group of about ten people allegedly gangraped her at a tekdi in Phursungi in the wee hours of August 8.

Police inspector Ravindra Rasal, the investigating officer, said that they have still not recorded the statement of the victim, because her mental situation is weak. “The blood samples of the victim were sent for forensic test. We received the forensic report on February 11. It stated that girl was not sedated before rape.” Sources said that investigation is being done to check the genuineness of the complaint lodged by Bramhane. When contacted, deputy superintendent Ravindra Rasal, who was a part of the investigation team, said, “I have not checked the forensic report. I would speak to the investigation officer about it.”
