The president of the Panchkula Bar Council, Lalit Gupta, said that although the lawyers have started removing their sheds, but they would hold an indefinite strike from Monday onwards. Gupta stated, “As the deadline for the notice ends tomorrow, the lawyers have themselves started removing their sheds. But the step taken by the administration is wrong.” He further added that there were only 113 chambers in the court, against the 400 regularly practicing lawyers.
He further added that despite the allotment of one-acre land by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for the construction of the chambers two years ago, the construction work could not be started, as the payment was not made by the administration. “The lawyers will suffer due to the carelessness of the administration and we will go on an indefinite strike from Monday onwards to protest it,” said Gupta.
