Kolkata, January 8 A plan to tackle the flood situation and control soil erosion in the districts of Murshidabad, Nadia and Birbhum will be taken up by the state irrigation and waterways department shortly, said Subhas Naskar, state irrigation minister, on Tuesday.

“A six-member committee, headed by former irrigation secretary P K Bose, was formed last year. The committee recently presented its preliminary findings. Once we receive the final report, we will be in a position to devise a plan that could be extended to the entire state,” said Naskar.

The committee is looking into relocation of flood-hit people, dredging of rivers and renovation or construction of dams.

“A list of things that need to be done in the next 25, 50 and 100 years is also being prepared,” added the minister.
