Planning Commission team in Jangalmahal

Midnapore As part of Central government’s plan to push development projects in the Maoist-hit areas, a senior Planning Commission official today held meetings with the district officers of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia district to discuss growth-related plans in the areas.

“As part of Centre’s comprehensive development in Maoist-hit areas, advisor to Planning Commission L P Sonekar held meetings with the block development officers of Jungalmahal areas of West Bengal,” said District Magistrate of West Midnapore Narayan Swarup Nigam. The Jungalmahal consists of Maoist-hit forested areas of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia districts.

Sonekar came for an assessment of the areas and to understand the immediate needs of the Naxal-affected areas to chalk out the quantity of investment needed, another government official said.
