The idea has been floated by Minister of State for Minorities and Madrasa Education Abdus Sattar, who has sent a note on this issue to Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. “In Kerala, they have done this (reservation for Muslims) in a clever way. The OBCs form 99 per cent of the Muslim community there. In West Bengal too, you can widen the scope for reservation if you increase the number of OBCs in the Muslim community. I have urged the chief minister to form a special commission to bring in more Muslims into the OBC category,” Sattar told The Indian Express.
The chief minister himself is in charge of the department of minorities.
Sattar also said that at present, the process of identifying OBCs in Muslims is cumbersome and officials involved in it do not have much knowledge about the Muslim community. “People with knowledge in Islamic religion and culture should be involved in this process.”
The minister said the CM was sympathetic to his proposals and said he would consider it. About two years ago, Bhattacharjee had planned to bring in a legislation providing for reservation for Muslims but beat a hasty retreat when a similar attempt by the Andhra government met with legal hurdle.

Although the constitution calls for periodical review of the reservation policy to slowly reduce and do away with it,we see vote bank compulsions increasing the reservation process.Slowly the government must bring all the communities of all the relegious groups of india under the reservation category so that in effect we will be nullifying the reservation policy.
indian minority vote bank are creating godse once again.....this time it may 1000 in number..
great, yeah let's have some more reservations. Let's divide this country more than it already is. Way to go politicians. how about reserving seats for everbody else who is not a BC/ OBC/ NT /ST
