Rajkot The dispute over a piece of land at Raiya Dhar has become more complicated, with another person claiming rights over the land worth over Rs 20 crore.

One Dayalal Ruparel from Laxmiwadi in Rajkot has submitted an application before Commissioner of Police Sudhir Sinha to register an FIR against Porbandar-based underworld don Ebha Arjan Jadeja, Vadodara-based builder Kanti Patel and several others for grabbing his 163 acres of land at survey number 250 at Raiya Dhar.

Already, there were four contenders to the land, including the state government, Kanti, Pal Darbar and Ebha Jadeja, nephew of one-time Porbandar mafia queen Santok Jadeja alias Godmother.

Ruparel has claimed that the land was purchased by him from one Vinayak Bhatt 28 years ago and the claims made by Jadeja and Patel were baseless. The fresh claim came when the Rajkot police was likely to register a case against Ebha.

According to the police, the land originally belonged to one Pal Darbar and it was taken over by the state government under Urban Land Ceiling Act. Despite this, Darbar sold it to Patel.

The police swung into action after a public notice issued in vernaculars by Jadeja claimed rights over the land. After this, Sinha ordered an inquiry into the case. According to the police, Jadeja's public notice indicated that Porbandar mafia was taking interest in the disputed land.
