PM mourns Hooda’s demise

Chandigarh Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Monday paid tributes to freedom fighter Ranbir Singh Hooda, who passed away on Sunday. In a message, the Prime Minister said Ranbir Singh would be remembered for his contribution to the freedom movement and as a member of the Constituent Assembly. Phool Chand Mullana, president of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, said, “Our sympathies are with the family of Bhupinder Singh Hooda.’’

Haryana Civil Service (Executive) Officers’ Association paid its condolences and said with the demise of Ranbir Singh, who was the long surviving member of the Constituent Assembly, an era had come to an end. He would always be remembered for his contribution to the freedom struggle and for the uplift of the downtrodden. General secretary of Social Action Group for Ambedkarite Reform, Karambir said Ranbir Singh was not just a great leader, but a great human being as well.
