Pune, February 8
Former mayor Vandana Chavan and activists Sandeep Khardekar have alleged that the Tree Authority of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is supporting the builders’ lobby and wrongly giving permissions to cut trees. They have also demanded a formation of a separate committee to carry out an inquiry of the permissions. Chavan and Khardekar have submitted a memorandum of demands to the Municipal Commissioner Praveensinh Pardeshi. They said, “Tree Authority’s giving permissions to certain builders without even paying a visit to the proposed site looks doubtful. The civic administration should carry out inquiries into the permissions given until now.”
