PMO gives Rs 40-lakh grant to orphanage

Ferozepur Arya Anathalya orphanage in Ferozepur, which was in a dilapidated condition, got a grant of Rs 40 lakh from the Prime Minister’s office.

Parminder Singh, general secretary of PPCC, apprised Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh of the pathetic condition of Arya Anathalya that was established by Maharishi Dayanand Sarswati in 1877.

Parminder Singh today handed over a demand draft of Rs 10 lakh to the management of the orphanage, while rest of the grant would be released after the expenditure of the first installment. Special emphasis would be laid to make arrangements to facilitate technical as well as job-oriented education to orphans, said Parminder.

He also called asked the orphanage authorities to change its name from Arya Anathalya to Apna Ashram to raise the morale of students.
